Death by Hills

Today was our first day going into the hills of San Antonio. Other triathletes we know have been pushing us to go there for a year, and finally our coach, KC, put it on the schedule so there was no getting out of it this time. We met at 7:00 and headed north into the hills.
I thought KC liked me, but I am seeing now that there is an internal dislike; something in me that makes her want to punish me … to make me cry. But “NO,” I say to her. “You shall NOT make me CRY!!”
And I did not … but I came close. And I used some curse words that I know I shall pay for in purgatory.
The first hill after the first right hand turn … the FIRST FREAKING HILL my heart rate shot to 220 and I had to get off bike and calm myself down. What. The Hell?
The rest of the day progressed as such … 40 mph screaming down one hill followed by 6-11 mph struggling back up the other side. I will say, though, that those downhills were FUN … I went into aero and rode the hell out of those. I figured since I was being punished half the time I might as well have fun the rest of the time.
This was a nice wake up call. We need MUCH work here. It hurt, it was hot, but we go through it. And we will be back.
Jennifer had lost a cylinder … good time for a break.
Man … I could have just crawled up there and went to sleep.
A long long straight shot … actually was nice
for a change 🙂
Tree
Landscape shot. So MUCH to see!!!
This one at us up. Right after the turn on
Powell. Hit 37mph coming down the one
side. Got 3/4 up before having to walk it
the rest of the way.
Um….why are you smiling????
