As you may be aware by reading back through this blog, I have participated in an Olympic Distance Triathlon at St. Anthony’s Triathlon on May 1, 2011 with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. More recently, I completed two Half Marathon’s (Disney Wine and Dine on October 1, 2011 and Miami Beach Rock and Roll on December 11, 2011) and my first marathon (Disney 2012) and 5 Sprint Triathlons. I have just agreed to do a new event – St. Anthony’s Triathlon on April 29, 2012 in St. Petersburg and need to raise $2,000 for this amazing cause!
When I train we are not only helping to raise money, we honor our patients, our friends and our families who are affected by blood disorders. Every day I think of the devastating impact of traditional chemotherapy on patients with blood cancers. In this era of personalized medicine, new therapies are being discovered everyday. Most recently in August of this year, a new agent was FDA approved for relapsed and refractory Hodgkin’s lymphoma and anaplastic large T cell lymphoma which targets the cancer cells and delivers poison directly to cells in question; dramatically reducing the amount the toxicity the drug inflicts. This drug WILL save lives. Your donation WILL help vital research like this continue.
All of us are experiencing the hardship of the economic downturn. The funds available through government grants and large-scale donations are dwindling precipitously. Your generous contribution, no matter how small, is appreciated and will go directly to helping a patient’s life. Please help us save lives!
Keep checking my website for more donation incentives and to follow my progress as we train. To donate directly, please visit
Or if you prefer, write a check, payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and send it to:

Remember your contribution is 100% tax-deductible and will promote continuous research, patient assistance, support systems and ultimately help fund a cure for these devastating diseases.
Most of us have been touched by cancer in our lives, as survivors (including myself) or with close friends and family. Together we can affect a change.
With warmest regards and thanks!
