Ironman Rock Stars

I have to take a moment and give a shout out to the staff of the Ironman store located in New Tampa (corner of Bruce B Downs and County Line Road, right next to LA Fitness). Jennifer and I have been going in there since we started this journey toward being triathletes and they have always been supportive, helpful, and willing to impart their experiences. Both of our bikes were purchased there, along with our fitting, supplements, various clothing items and swim workout gear, and we refuse to go any where else when there is something we need, because they always give us the truth when we have questions and never try to “sell” us on anything. When I had breathing issues and was struggling with the swim they suggested the snorkel, and it has allowed me to compete.

Today was an example of their manners. I was having issues with my bike yesterday. The chain was coming off whenever I hit the high gear on the lower ring. I was personally fixing this by going to big ring and middle link, which turns out to be the correct fix on the fly. The bike mechanic there, Dave, threw it up on the rack and showed me why it was happening and that there really wasn’t a need to strip it down at this point. Now … if I had taken my CAR into a mechanic not only would they have fixed this, but they would have found numerous other things to charge me for …. but not them. They not only did that, but they changed my bar tape and wouldn’t take payment for it … all for free.

If you are looking to get into these types of races, or even just swimming or biking, please check this store out ( the web site is here). Go talk to Hunter, Dave, or Jon. They rock.

I think this is the only one, so lucky for me it is here in Tampa. You can order through their website though, and if ever down here for a race make sure you get in there. It's a great store (but bring money … bikes are expensive LOL).
